An Invitation to Guest Post on Simple Life Together

We are now taking submissions for guest posts on Simple Life Together! Our goal is to host one guest post per week, generally on Wednesdays.

Guest Post on SimpleLifeTogether.com

With SimpleLifeTogether.com, we know we’ve built a solid platform to spread the message of simplicity and simple living. And, we want to share that platform with others who will serve to inspire, educate and motivate others to lead a simple life in the modern world. After all, that’s been our goal all along!

So here are some specifics to make sure we get the best guest content for our readers and listeners:

Content

Your post must be on one of following topics:

  • Your simplicity/simple living journey

  • Simplifying as a family

  • Simplicity Tips

  • A specific area of your life that you’ve simplified

  • Small space living

  • Personal productivity

Restrictions:

Your post cannot be an advertisement for your (or any) product or the equivalent of a sponsored post.

Guidelines

  1. Your post must be original and not previously published either elsewhere on the web or in print.

  2. You agree not to publish it anywhere else, including your own blog or website. However, posting a brief “tease” or summary on your site that links to the post is highly encouraged.

  3. You may provide up to three byline links: one for your blog or website, one for your bio or About page, and one for your Twitter username (optional).

  4. Your post should be at least 500 words long and no more than 800 words.

  5. Here is some great info regarding guest posting that you should also read:

Editing

  • We will likely copyedit your post for grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc. If we make substantive changes (which is unlikely), we’ll email the post back to you for your approval before posting.

  • We may provide a short introduction or conclusion to your post to provide context or the rationale as to why we think the post is important. Our comments will be noted so that readers are clear that these are our comments and not yours.

Disclaimer

We understand that a lot of work goes into writing a blog post. However, not every guest post submitted will be the right fit for our listeners or our brand. Therefore, please understand that some submissions will not be used and we are under no obligation to publish anything submitted to us. The only guest posts we will publish are those that in our sole judgment add value to our readers and listeners. Furthermore, if we do not approve your guest post, we will let you know. That said, we will likely not explain why we did not approve it or provide any detail. Frankly, that would take more time than we can afford.

Submissions

If your post meets the above guidelines:

  • Please email it to Dan  for consideration. Please note that it may take 1-2 weeks to respond.

  • Please include a one to two-sentence byline that includes what you do, along with your blog address and your Twitter and/or Facebook address.

  • Please include the size of your readership/listenership: number of blog readers, Facebook friends or fans, podcast downloads per month, and Twitter followers. We completely understand if you don’t have sizable numbers right now. That’s fine.

  • Please confirm that you are willing to engage with our readers in the comments about your post. This is hugely important and a non-negotiable. Our posts are for our community and that means author involvement.

  • Please include the post in the body of the e-mail. DO NOT include it as an attachment. Also, please do not include HTML coding.

  • If you have a photo or image that you’d like for us to consider using with your post, please ensure the following:
    • That you have rights to use the image/photo
    • If using Creative Commons images/photos, please include the URL to the image/photo owner’s Creative Commons license (such as the Flickr page, wikimedia URL, etc)
    • Ensure the image/photo is high resolution and sized at least 800 pixels wide. Height should not exceed 600 pixels.

Closing Thoughts

We look forward to considering your submission. Remember, the bottom line we use to judge submissions is the value your post will have for our readers and listeners. Of course, if we decide not to use reject your post, you are obviously free to do whatever you want with it, including publishing it elsewhere.

We’d like to extend a hat tip to Michael Hyatt for inspiring the context of this guest posting policy. We think he nailed what needed to be covered. His original version can be found here.
